Aplio


Founded in September 1996, Aplio was able to develop a world-wide presence and had offices in the United States, Europe and Israel.

Aplio was a privately held company, backed by major European venture capitalists.

Aplio's first product was an Internet appliance, the Aplio/Phone, which provided voice communications over the Internet without using a computer.

Aplio went on to partner with Atmel to develop jointly develop an ARM based processor for VoIP applications. In 2000 Aplio was purchased by the US company Net2Phone; Net2phone went on to develop several VoIP products based on Aplio designs and prototypes. Aplio itself was closed by Net2Phone in 2002.
